### ⚠️ Double Signing: A Serious Offense

**Double signing** occurs when a validator signs two conflicting blocks at the same block height. This is considered the most severe violation in the network.

#### Consequences of Double Signing:

* 🚫 **Permanent loss of validator reputation** — trust from the community is severely damaged
* 💸 **Loss of stake** — both the validator’s and their delegators’ coins are slashed as a penalty
* ⚠️ **Community distrust** — undermines confidence in the validator and the network’s security
